Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life, and I will dwell in

the house of the Lord forever.

              ~Psalm 23:6

For a lovely reception,

For generous gifts of different sorts,

For receiving me as someone who might not be useless to you,

For nurturing my growth in Christ, and allowing me to help with yours,

For walking with me on paths we could not have foreseen,

THANK YOU!

-Pr. Howard Abts

Your attention please!

We have recently started putting birthdays in the newsletter. If you do not see your name and it should be there, please notify the office. Let us know your birthday (yes, including the year) so that we will not miss you again. We can only put in the information that we have. We would never intentionally leave anyone off the list!

A couple years ago we updated our system and were unable to import the previous information.

Let us know of ANY changes, please, including address, phone numbers, email addresses.

Thank you for your help!

Behind the scenes at Grace…. By Gretchen

  1. Brenner Hall was hopping this last week with the Youth Hugeamongous Rummage Sale! Thanks to all who donated items – we had a tremendous selection of treasures. Thanks to all the hard work of the workers! The sale was a tremendous, awesome success and will cover the costs associated with the youths mission trip this summer. Thanks again to all!
  2. The Rummage Sale is over, and the Election People move in to set up – so Brenner Hall has been busy.
  3. Thanks to Connie Thomas for planting the gorgeous geraniums next to the office – they so brighten up the area!
  4. Bells were ringing and lights flashing this last week as our Fire Alarm was undergoing its annual testing. It was definitely a sound that you would not sleep through. So, do you know where the fire alarm pulls, and fire extinguishers are? Just in case?
  5. Many gardens are exploding in gorgeous flowers. Feel free to share and place on the altar.
  6. Remember: Grace is not the building but the people of Grace carrying out God’s mission.

Grace Luther League wants to send an ENORMOUS

to everyone who donated, set up, showed up, shopped and cleaned up the 2022 Rummage Sale!

It was 2 years in the making and it was a

HUGE

success!

We couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Thank you, God, for spring time!

May is Stroke Awareness Month!

80% of strokes are preventable!

Knowing the signs of stroke and taking action immediately are so important!

Checking for stroke – remember the word F.A.S.T.

F – Face. Is there drooping of one side of the mouth. Ask the person to smile and show their teeth. Does it look equal – can you see the same number of teeth on each side of the mouth?

A – Arms. Ask the person to hold their arms straight out in front with palms up. Are both arms being held equally or is one hanging down.

S – Speech. Is their speech slurred or garbled or are they unable to speak? Ask them to repeat a sentence.

T– Time. Time is important in treatment. Calling 911 ASAP if there are any of the above symptoms is so important. Medications to treat strokes are to be given within a certain time frame to be effective so it is very important that you know what time symptoms appear.

What can you do to help prevent stoke?

Control high blood pressure

Lower high cholesterol

Stop Smoking

Maintain a healthy weight

Eat healthy foods, decrease salt.

Move

Get adequate sleep

RED IS POWER!!!

A unit of red can help power as many as 3 people!!! Our next Blood Drive is the Interfaith Blood Drive to be held on Saturday June 25  8:30 am – 2:00 pm. You can sign up on the Red Cross Web site, call the Red Cross or Gretchen can help you with.

With our last Blood Drive and our Blood on the Run Board we had two people let us know where their blood traveled to. One stayed in town and went to St. Charles, and another went to Marion Ohio.

Let Gretchen know where your blood went so that its destination can be put on the map!

***** Blood Pressure Checks Sunday May 22 in between services in room 3
